Oh, How Proud

Oh, how proud one should be
to live in America, the land of the free,
where so many brave
young fought to save
what our founding fathers gave
when proclaiming their stand
against their ruler's suffocating hand.

Time and again each generation
of our great, blessed nation
heeded Her motherly call
to unite as one against all
who dared try to make Her fall,
prevailing and keeping the USA strong and tall.

The same can be said too
about helping our foreign friends, old and new,
being faithful and true
to what we all hold dear,
which is hoped for all others far and near
with intentions that are honorable and sincere.

Oh, how proud one should be...
thinking of Lady Liberty,
seeing Old Glory waving under a clear blue sky,
celebrating with family on Fourth of July,
remembering America's fallen on Memorial Day,
supporting our troops in harm's way,
singing, "Oh, say can you see...",
and just knowing you are an American, truly free.
