Freedom

Throughout our country's winding path,
I wonder the number who have given it much thought,
Taking for granted what many do not have yet,
Forgetting her bloody cost being won and kept.

It allows our children to be themselves,
Reaching out with their imagination,
Like building castles out of sand,
Or just drawing mom and dad holding their hand.

It gave us the bill of rights and fairness under the law,
Permits worshiping as we please and voting our choice,
Fosters sowing our own seeds regardless of flaw,
Enables us to dissent, debate, and raise our voice.

It is standing united for what we hold true,
Providing comfort and aid to others since independence won,
Pledging allegiance to the red, white, and blue.
It is what we should always hold dear... Freedom!
