First Americans

The early settlers bravely came
to this new frontier
so they could believe
without oppression and shame,
accepting this different life's fear
with resolute determination to achieve.

Joined by more from their native soil
to share in this rich wild expanse,
these patriots soon came to see
that ending foreign reaping of their toil
was worth taking an independent stance,
giving us... the land of the free.

They are the ones who made America so,
permanently imprinting their spirit
through honored words and valiant deeds.
They are the patriotic example set long ago
whom we should never forget
for sowing our liberty and justice seeds.
